2017 Product Demonstration Evening


CEW presents how we shop, learn and consume beauty products and treatments through its showcasing of the beauty industry at its famous demonstration night

On Tuesday 21 February over 750 CEW members, guests and press descended on Olympia London to attend the annual 2017 CEW Beauty Awards Product Demonstration Evening. A showcase of outstanding innovation and creativity, the event is recognised as one of the most highly anticipated events in the beauty calendar and marks the first step towards this year’s highly coveted CEW Beauty Awards – known as the ‘Oscars of the Beauty Industry’. 

2017 is a landmark year for CEW as it celebrates 25 years in the UK and this year’s awards are set to be the most successful yet, with a record number of entries across 28 categories. Throughout the evening, attendees had the opportunity to visit brand experts at their stands, learn about upcoming trends in each of the categories and gain insights into the latest products and treatments. The luxurious relaxation area offered a selection of pampering experiences from leading sponsors and brands including Amazon Beauty, Marks and Spencer, Philips, ghd, Latest in Beauty, QVC and Benefit. Guests were able to indulge in manicures, skin consultations, brow shaping, hair styling and much more. 

To celebrate 25 years of the world’s greatest music and the 25th anniversary of CEW in the UK, Classic FM and CEW have teamed up this year to create a very special one-off award. Leading journalist and author Jo Fairley created a list of 25 of the most iconic beauty products to help celebrate 25 years of excellence with Classic FM’s Beauty Hall of Fame. Those who attended the Product Demonstration Evening will now have the opportunity to vote for CEW and Classic FM’s Beauty Hall of Fame winner. 

The awards also welcomed an additional category this year for the ‘Best New Wellbeing Product’ after seeing a huge rise in the concept of beauty and wellbeing over the past year. Similarly to this there has been a continued growth in the success of the ‘Eco Award’ with the support of sponsor Givaudan. Helene Parthenay from Amazon Beauty expressed her opinion on the value of the awards “The CEW Beauty Awards is a great launch pad for new brands and we are absolutely thrilled to be given the opportunity to support those brands and new industry trends. It was an amazing opportunity for myself and the rest of the Amazon Beauty team to meet so many industry experts and share some of the exciting things we have done in Beauty and our vision for the future of online shopping.”

At the end of the evening, attendees received their famous CEW bag, kindly produced and packed by Latest in Beauty, filled with a selection of gorgeous products from the exhibitors. Post event, all attending members take these products home to test before casting their vote for their favourites in each category. 

Online voting for the CEW Beauty Awards will open at the end of this week, closing on Monday 20 March so CEW Members can vote to have their voice heard before the Winners Announcement Lunch on Friday 28 April.
