New Cancers & Careers Directory
New Cancers & Careers Directory
Please contact Eileen Cavalier on cancer.careers@gmail.com
for more information.
CEW(UK) is putting together a brand new Cancer and Careers National Directory with Eileen Cavalier, Managing Director of the London College of Beauty Therapy and CEW(UK) Board member, spearheading the initiative. The last edition, which launched in March 2009, incorporated guidance, with many links to local services, support groups, health and cancer information services, beauty and skincare products, wigs, reconstructive plastic surgery clinics and hospitals, post and pre-operative fashion, lingerie and UK wide fitting services and much more. Today, all of us are affected by cancer in some way either personally suffering from the illness or by knowing someone who has suffered and we are looking to our members to help us by suggesting organisations, individuals, books, websites and much more so we can ensure our Directory provides the best possible information for women living and working with cancer. This edition is very much about thriving not just surviving so we want to look across the whole spectrum.
This time we will include a new section on Diet, Exercise and Nutrition. These three aspects are all extremely important to the effective treatment of cancer. To make this section the best it can be we require more information. If you know of any organisations, individuals, books or websites regarding Diet, Exercise and Nutrition in relation to cancer please send your information to CEW(UK).
In addition to the information required above, we are looking for suggestions on Holistic and Wellbeing organisations that provide day centres where one can go and get a massage or other Holistic therapies and be looked after in a caring environment which specialises and understands cancer and what can and cannot be done.
The Cancer and Careers Directory has always offered advice on wigs and headwear but we believe there is more that can be done. News about organic hairdyes is especially welcomed.
It is our hope that the updated and expanded handbook, and website will become a premier resource and will provide ideas, information and inspiration for all women dealing with cancer, their families and their colleagues at work. CEW (UK) with the support of the beauty industry is continuing to work to make this a reality.
We have set up an email address to which all suggestions and information can be sent. So please do feel free to contact Eileen Cavalier on cancer.careers@gmail.com. This email address will also be posted on our website in the Cancer and Careers pages for ease of access.
