Neville McCarthy Associates
Caroline Neville is a leader in the beauty industry. A respected administrator, and consultant, she has held a series of key positions, including her current role as President of the beauty industry’s leading trade organisation, she is also Chairman of Neville McCarthy Associates, a Public Relations and Marketing Agency specializing in lifestyle luxury goods, health and beauty, which she founded in 1962 and was formerly known as Caroline Neville Associates. This year the Agency celebrates its 50th Anniversary.
She currently serves as President of Cosmetic Executive Women (UK), a non profit trade association of approximately 1000 executives in the beauty, cosmetics, fragrance, and related industries. She was one of the original 7 founder members of CEW (UK) in 1992 until her appointment as President in 1996.
An energetic and dedicated supporter of philanthropic activities she launched ‘Cancer and Careers’ in the UK - CEW’s independent initiative for working women with cancer who wish to continue working whilst receiving treatment. She has overseen the publication of 3 editions of “Living and Working with Cancer” a handbook which is a complete resource for women diagnosed with cancer. To date CEW (UK) has distributed 75,000 copies free to members of the public, cancer centers and hospitals. CEW (UK) also supports The Eve Appeal which funds research into gynecological cancers, with this years donation CEW (UK) will have donated £75.000 to the charity funds raised through CEW’s event and sponsorships.
As Managing Director of Caroline Neville Associates she has probably written strategies for more beauty brand launches than any other UK public relations executive, from Ralph Lauren to Neutrogena, The Puig Company to House of Fraser. In 1986 she founded Interlink, an association of international PR agencies spanning Europe, the US and Japan which is still in place today. In 1995 she was made a Freeman of the City of London and Member of the Worshipful Company of Framework Knitters following her 2l year PR and Marketing campaign to introduce Lycra into the UK market for which the agency won two industry awards.
Outside of work she sat for many years on the selection committee for the prestigious academic Morehead Scholarship to the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill after her own daughter Louisa gained the scholarship. She was also Honorary PR and Member of The Ireland Fund of Great Britain a charity established by Sir Tony O’Reily whose aim was to support the peace and reconciliation process in Ireland.
Beauty, fitness and health continue to consume most of her time today and they also remain an important part of the integral mix of clients within the Agency. Her son Dominic McCarthy joined the Agency in 1993 taking over as Managing Director in 2002, when the Agency rebranded itself to become Neville McCarthy Associates. Her daughter Louisa McCarthy joined the Agency full time in 2007 and now heads up the Fashion and Luxury brand division.
